Weezer’s cover of Toni Braxton’s 90s hit ‘Unbreak my Heart’, the song is featured on their outtakes and rarities compilation “Death to False Metal”. Rick Rubin initally suggested that the band cover the song for their 2005 album “Make Believe”, they add their cunchy guitars and Rivers Cuomo vocals which aren’t terrible, the only thing I can’t believe is that they actually decide to go through with covering the song. You can dowload the song below.

Weezer performed two tracks from their self-titled debut album “The Blue Album” on Last Call with Carson Daly. As the show now focuses on music, they showed two performances by the band, they chose to perform ‘Undone — The Sweater Song’ and ‘Buddy Holly’. Weezer are currently on their Memories Tour which will see them perform their first two albums in cities throughout the country.
In other Weezer news, the band was the subject of a grassroots movement to get them to split, the man who was responsible urged Weezer fans to each put up $12 to make $10 million to offer the band to break-up, so far he has raised $96 and Pat Wilson joked on Twitter: “if they can make it 20, we’ll do the ‘deluxe breakup’!”, also this guy is getting death threats so I think its time to stop.

Weezer Confirms “Blinkerton” Tour

Weezer haven’t been able to recapture the success of their first two albums not matter how much they try, so it seems like a logical choice to give fans what they want and they’ll be playing both album “Blue Album” and “Pinkerton” in their entierity. They creatively decided to call it the “Blinkerton” Tour. Their new label Epitaph confirmed the what was once a rumor by saying this about the tour:

This winter (November/December), Weezer will launch a multi-city U.S. tour, dubbed by fans as the “Blinkerton Tour.” The band will play two shows in each market-on the first night Weezer will play the Blue Album in its entirety, and the second night they will play Pinkerton in its entirety.
The band also recently played their new single ‘Memories’ on Leno, which you can watch below and they are also working with British lo-fi rockers Male Bonding.

Weezer Announce Plans for Blue Album & Pinkerton Tour

Weezer have announced that they are currently working on plans to tour their first two albums; their self-titled blue album “Weezer” and their second album “Pinkerton”. Rivers Cuomo and Pat Wilson recently talked to MTV News about the possiblity of the two albums being played in select cities for two nights in each city. This is what Rivers Cuomo said about the proposed tour:

“We have this really exciting idea to do a tour where we spend two nights in each city, and the first night, we play the entire Blue Album, and the second night, we play the entirety of Pinkerton. We’re just running it by promoters right now to see if there’s sufficient interest in the markets to do something like that, and if they’re on board, it’s gonna happen.”

Pat Wilson added this to the news:

“Yeah, it would probably be a Blue/Pinkerton tour. It’s an idea, we’re still examining the mathematics of everything, looking at the logistics and schedules … you know.”

This sounds awesome since they haven’t really released anything even close the material on those two albums since their second self-titled Green Album.

I haven’t posted about Weezer in a while besides promotion for their last self-titled album and an LA Riots remix of ‘Automatic’. That album wasn’t very impressive and the last album before that had great singles but was light on content. The last Weezer album I seemed to enjoy was their 2001 self-titled album “Weezer” the green one. They were never I band that I went to for complex song structures or deep lyrical content. Rivers Cuomo’s lyrics have always been pretty straightforward and sometimes becomes very cliche to down right cheesy. For the new album Weezer seem to have just given up on their fans. Their new album shows Weezer staying in the same territory they have stayed in for much of the decade; pissing of their fans comes natural to the band who just don’t seem to care for what their fans want. The new album continues along the same vein as “Weezer (The Red Album)”. They explore with some collaborations with Lil’ Wayne rapping on one of the tracks and Rivers co-writing a track with Jermaine Dupree. If you liked their last album you probably will not be disappointed, old Weezer fans will have to continue to cringe.
