Leaked: Klaxons – Surfing the Void

Klaxons - Surfing the Void cover

Klaxons are finally back after being gone for the last couple of years, re-recording their new album “Surfing the Void” has now finally surfaced. The album features a cat in what has been a good year for cats on album covers (see Best Coast, Dom, and Wavves), but their cover takes the top prize for being the strangest. Up until now we have heard most of the album, including the single ‘Echoes’. The band have been asked by the label to capture some of the success from their debut album “Myths of the Near Future”, which spawned many singles in the UK after the band went in a completely different direction. The band do this on many of the songs on the album but not only do they capture their previous album’s sound they expand on the formula used. Their falsettoes, synths and hard bass can be found throughout but they have ditched some of the more rave inspired aspects. Klaxons are trying some harder-edge things on the album since they were produced by Ross Robinson it is now suprised. ‘Extra Astronomical’ showcases this sound. Most of the material on the new album verges on prog-rock-like pop songs. You can buy the album here it will be out on August 31.
