Peter Gabriel new song-swap/covers album “Scratch My Back” has leaked before its intended release date. Its interesting to see what the artist that he covered will do with his songs since the number of songs that he coevered were from artists in all different types of genres. He chose a variety of artist like David Bowie, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, The Magnetic Fields and more. The first song that was heard from this project was Gabriel’s cover of Arcade Fire’s ‘My Body is A Cage’, it would serve as an indicator for what to expect from the album. It wasn’t what anyone would call a rock song, instead of guitars it had string sections build up while the original featured an organ. Symphonic arrangements are used throughout the whole album, none of the songs resemble the originals. Highlights include ‘Heroes’, ‘My Body Is a Cage’, ‘The Book of Love’. The album will be out on February 15 via Virgin. You can buy the album here. You can also download a cover he didn’t include on the album below.
