The British four-piece band are said to be working on a new album. This album would be the follow-up to their 2008 release “Viva La Vida”> Coldplay just recently finished a world tou rless than two months ago. They are worried that they are becoming too much of a stadium band and want to get back and record a more “stripped-down acoustic album”. According to Australia’s Heraldsun, the band has been working in a chapel and recording their new album. This is what they said a source told them:
Chris is determined not to be seen as a huge commercial rock juggernaut, filling stadiums and cashing in. The plan is to keep them as close to their fans as possible. The boys have thrown themselves into the new album and the results are really exciting so far.
They also added that British newspaper the Sun says this about the band recording a new album:
The band are keen to make hay while the sun shines. They have hit a rich vein with their songwriting and feel more creative than ever. Chris had wanted to record a new album while they were on the road but it was just too much. They have this work ethic while the going is good to just keep working as hard as possible.
They also report that Brian Eno will still serve as producer on their new album. The band recently had some demos from the “Viva La Vida” sessions leak, so maybe those songs, which are way more stripped down than those on the actual album, will make their way onto the new album.
