Speaking to BBC 6Music La Roux singer Elly Jackson told them that the band will start working on material for their new album in France. All of this is set to happen in the next couple of weeks. She has revealed that the band only has a limited amount of time to begin writing new material for their new album before they start touring again. Here is what she said:
We’re going to stay in my manager’s house and use the quiet time to our advantage.
We’ve only got two weeks writing time between Christmas and the summer so unless we manage to write a record in two weeks I don’t think there will be anything in terms of a second record for a while.
Ben (Langmaid) and I have got a fairly clear idea of what we want to do but we haven’t actually started doing it yet so we don’t know how it’s going to sound.
I think there will be a natural instrument or two on there though which will make a change from the first record
She also speaks of how the band will probably try to do new versions of tracks that have already been released on their self-titled debut:
“There might be a few things in between this album and the next that people can get their teeth into.
We’ve got a stripped down version of Bulletproof which we did on Radio 1’s Live Lounge and played at Glastonbury.
We’ve also done a new version of In For The Kill which we’re still working on and I think I’m going to develop it into some kind of remix.
All of this is great considering how good the band’s debut was, but I don’t think that they necessarily need to start working on new versions of material that is already great. You know the saying: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
