Mouth’s Cradle is the eletronica project of Kevin Hegedus and Brandon Linn, they both go under pseudonyms with Kevin Hegedus as Mouf and Brandon Linn as BLinn. It began while Hegedus was studying music composition at Syracuse Univeristy. Alone he recorded two EPs until he approached Linn to add something else to the project. The short amount of material ranges in sound from the handclap-laden acapella track ‘Man O’ War’ and pretty much bare recording that feature only vocals loops to the simple lo-fi guitar rock of ‘Beach Tales’. Some of the material features rapping that makes me think of early Why? material with Yonni Wolf alone recording the tracks, some of the material also sounds like Neutral Milk Hotel like ‘Huffy Henry’ with guitar distortion and then brass coming in near the end. The duo are currently working on an album trying to combine Hegedus’ lo-fi laptop-diy recordings with some of Linn’s more electronic influences. You can learn more about Mouth’s Cradle on myspace.
