LCD Soundsystem has announced via their Facebook page that they will be releasing their new album in March with a tour coming afterwards. The band’s last album “Sound of Silver” was released in 2007. James Murphy and co. have been recording in Los Angeles this past summer. All that was written on the Facebook page was:
record: march. tour: after.
In the October issue of Mojo James Murphy said that the band has been recording in a mansion in LA. He tells Mojo abou the album’s new sound: “We decided, let’s make Los Angeles an imaginary Los Angeles of the soul from 1973. Everyone had to wear white all the time, so it’s like some sort of creepy fucking cult and we’d go to parties, 10 people in a mini-van all in white, and we’d have enough of an impact on how Los Angels operated. You leave a dent.” During the interview Murphy says that the album is “just a bunch of sprawling instrumentals” and talks about some of the tracks: “I’m working on a song called ‘Why Do You Hate Music?’. Everyone seems to hate music right now, even people who make music. There’s a song called ‘Love In LA’, which has an Eddy Grant, Sly & Robbie feel. I’m doing what I set out to do on Sound of Silver, which is take more chances.” Great to hear about the new album, it seemed that they had kept it a little quiet for too long. Like this year next year is looking to be great with new album from Gorillaz to Vampire Weekend now LCD Soundsystem. _Thanks to Fact Magazine for the Mojo article quotes._
