New Klaxons – Marble Fields

Klaxons
Listening to their new free EP “Landmarks of Lunacy”, I don’t see why they considered a lot of this material way too experimental and the band needed to be reminded that they were a pop band. The most experimental tracks on the EP ‘Ivy Leaves’ and ‘Marble Fields’ seem like a natural progression of the sound of their debut albeit it is a lot less dance-friendly. The standout to me is the close ‘Marble Fields’ which just builds and builds with noisy distant guitars until almost five minutes later unleashing a whole cacophony of synths, drums and guitar. You can listen to the track below and the rest of the EP if you’re on the fence about downloading it here.

Glass Animals
Glass Animals are a band from Oxford, England, like most of the electronic music coming out of the UK the band can be lumped in with the dubstep genre. They make sparse, drum machine propelled tracks each buried in a depth of samples and other instruments. For their new remix of These New Puritans’ ‘Hologram’ goes for the tropical sound with synths evoking steel drums and howling yells. You can listen to the remix below and listen to more Glass Animals here.
