When I began this listing crazy around the end of November/beginning of December I planned to do posts about each particular album/ep/song that I loved this year. Unfortunately the real world is more important than the blog. Below are my choices for favorite EPs of the year.

Back in January when the awful earthquake hit Haiti Radiohead played a show at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. The show was apparently recorded by many fans and it was put together to form a matrix of sorts of the live show. The band approves of the film and it is available for download here and for streaming below. If you enjoy it donate to the band’s Oxfam page here. (Thanks to Twentyfourbit)

Matt Longo recently recorded and released his EP “Alexandria” in November, the album features melodic folk accompanied by acoustic instrumentation. Most of the EP features an array of influences which are obvious through it; country, folk, pop. The most prominent charasteristic of the music is Longo’s placid vocals which are kept consistent throughout the release. You can listen to the track ‘The High Life’ below and listen and buy the rest of the EP here.

Best Coast are going to be performing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon next week/year. The band will be on the show on January 3, if you’re in New York and would like to sit on the band bench for the performance you can enter to see her perform here. Best Coast will be starting the year by touring with Wavves.

Tennis are going to be releasing their anticipated debut album “Cape Dory” next year, now the band has stopped by the offices of Rolling Stone to perform some songs off the album. The band performed ‘Pigeons’, ‘Marathon’ and the previoulsy unheard ‘Bimini Bay’. You can watch the performances

Daniel Rossen spoke to the New York Daily News about the band’s work with the film Blue Valentine and how they were not able to score the film but did provide their music for it. Eight Grizzly Bear songs appear on the soundtrack along with a Department of Eagles composition, you can all the songs in the soundtrack here, he speaks of the use of the songs, which were instrumentals of songs from the band’s last two albums “Yellow House” and “Veckatimest”: (more…)

The Very Best are apparently working on the follow-up to their 2009 release “Warm Heart of Africa”. Their last album saw them working with M.I.A. and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, now guests were featured in the video but you can see them working with saxophones and some brass intruments. There with Esau Mwamwaya and the Radioclit guys working on some songs. You can the video below. (Thanks to Cause=Time)
