The Strokes & Jay-Z Announce To Headline Isle of Wright Festival

After talking about the band heading to the studio earlier today a good sign has come that this will probably lead to something. The band was announced to be headlining this year’s Isle of Wright Festival along with fellow New Yorker Jay-Z. The festival is set to take place from Friday June 11 to Sunday June 13. The band have not played live since 2006 and have already announced that they will be in the studio this January. The organizer for the festival John Giddings said: “Ever since I heard the first Strokes album, I’ve wanted them for the Isle of Wight. Jay-Z and Pink are two of the best live acts I have ever seen and the Blondie hits speak for themselves. I can’t wait.” Other acts playing the festival include Blondie, Orbital and Pink.

Girls Announce New Single To Be 'Morning Light'

San Francisco’s Girls will be releasing a new single for the track ‘Morning Light’. The single will be taken from their debut album titled “Album” and will be the fourth single released from the album after ‘Lust for Life’, ‘Laura’ and ‘Hellhole Ratrace’. The track was originally released as a double a-side with ‘Lust for Life’. The ‘Morning Light’ single will be released on February 22 on vinyl and digital download. It will feature a cover of Skeeter Davis’ ‘The End Of The World’ as a b-side. Girls recently announced a UK tour, played a new song on MPR and added more American tour dates.

On Saturday The Guardian posted an interview that with Damon Albarn, in the interview Damon Albarn confrims a lot of the rumoured information that seems to be going around with Gorillaz’ third album. He talks about the concept of the record and how he worked with the people that are featured on the new album. Albarn also confirms that the title of the new album is “Plastic Beach”. New Friendly Fires – Use Someody (Kings of Leon cover)

You have probably heard this song everywhere but now you have to hear it as covered by British dance-shoegaze band Friendly Fires. At a recent session of Radio 1′s Live Lounge the band covered the cahrt-topping track. The new version features the band adding some of their synths and reverb to the track along with a samba like drum. It adds to the track and overall improves it. It is transformed onto a song that could be featured on their debut album, with the heavy effects used on the guitar. You can download the track below.

La Roux To Start Working On New Album in France

Joanna Newsom Working on New Album, Now a Model

Joanna Newsom has worked on her new album in Tokyo according to Exclaim. This album was supposed to be released at the end of this year but obviously it never materialized since it was probably a early release date that was roughly scheduled. Joanna Newsom has been working on the album with Jim O’Rourke. Details about the album have yet to be released. Besides her album, Ms. Andy Samberg has also started a modeling career. She has been working with Armani on their United Artists campaign. Lykke Li is also involved with the campaign.
