St. Vincent Records Lake Fever Session

Annie Clark better known by her stage name St. Vincent has recorded an acoustic session for Lake Fever sessions. She recorded three tracks from her second album “Actor”, the tracks include ‘Actor Out of Work’, ‘The Strangers’ and the iTunes bonus track of the album ‘Oh My God’. Sigur Rós Perform on Spinner's Interface, "Ágætis byrjun" Named Best Icelandic Album of All Time

Sigur Rós have performed a froun song set for Spinner’s Interface. The set was recorded on September 18, 2008 in New York City, they played four songs from their latest release “Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust”. The tracks they played were: ‘Við Spilum Endalaust’, ‘Fljótavík’, ‘Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur’, and ‘Illgresi’ and they were also interviewed for during the session. In other Sigur Rós their 1999 release “Ágætis byrjun” has been named the Best Icelandic Album Ever. The poll was based on the opinion of 100 experts the press and music industry as well as a public vote, other Sigur Rós albums that made the list were last year’s release “Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust” and 2005′s “Takk..”. Jónsi is currently recording a largely acoustic solo album with string arrangements by Nico Muhly who also provided them on Grizzly Bear’s “Veckatimest”, with production by Pete Katis. The band has also been working on a new album recoding for the last few weeks since May, drummer Orri told an Icelandic newspaper that the recording process has been going well and it will be a slower and more ambient record than “Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust” and “Takk” and that it will be more melodic but much less noisy and more “out there” than previous albums.

Pilooski who you may know from remixing Franki Valli and the Four Seasons’ ‘Beggin” has remixed Jarvis Cocker’s ‘You’re In My Eyes (Discosong). SPIN Releasing Prince Tribute Album

SPIN Magazine will be releasing a tribute album for the 25th anniversary of Prince’s movie and album “Purple Rain”. The tracks by the artists were commissioned by the editors of SPIN. Apollonia features on the cover of ‘When Doves Cry’ by the Twilight Singers. It will be available as a free download for SPIN magazine readers and subscribers via SPIN.com starting June 23. The album titled “Purplish Rain” was made to accompany the July cover story which is an oral history of Purple Rain. Artists covering songs for the tribute album include Chairlift, of Montreal, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and Fol Chen. For more details you can go here. The tracklisting for the album is below.

New Dan Rossen – Waterfall (Judee Sill Cover)

Singer-songwriter Daniel Rossen who has been known for great covers, Jojo’s ‘Too Little, Too Late’ and known for writing some good songs on the side contributed a cover of Judee Sill’s ‘Waterfall’ for her new tribute album. Twee-shoegazers The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have announced some tour dates with fellow New York City band Cymbals Eat Guitars. The two bands will be touring North America for a month. During the summer months they will be touring in festivals and playing other dates but in September the two bands will together supporting the releases of their critically praised debuts.
