The Decemberists stopped by for their second visit to the Colbert Report, Colin Meloy discussed the concept of the new album, his fascination with the Victorian era and his sideburns. The band played ‘The Wanting Comes in Waves’, My Brightest Diamond’s Shara Worden was on hand to perform with the band. You can watch the performance and interview below.

The acts for the Austin City Limits festival have been announced, headliners will be Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, and the Beastie Boys. It will take place at Austin’s Zilker Park on October 2-4. Other acts announced to be playing at the festival include: Kings of Leon, Ben Harper and Relentless7, Thievery Corporation, John Legend, the Dead Weather, and the Levon Helm Band and hometown favorites Ghostland Observatory. The three day passes will be available for $185 and VIP passes will be available here. The full line-up is below.

Passion Pit will be releasing ‘Moth’s Wings’ as the first single from their debut album, “Manners“. It deviates from Passion Pit’s usual sound but that is expected from a band that is progressing. You can download the track below. Passion Pit previously debuted ‘The Reeling’
Fleet Foxes joined Blitzen Trapper on stage last week in Eugene, OR during their performance of the track ‘Furr’. The band added some harmonies and extra perscussion to the track. You can watch the video below.

MGMT’s ‘Kids’ was used in an ad for the French political party Union for a Popular Movement without permission and this made the band go crazy because the very same party was cracking down on filesharers. After agreeing not to sue they reached a settlement with the French government and will be donating the money to artists rights organizations. Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be further promoting their third album “It’s Blitz” by embarking on a tour. They are currently in Europe and will be heading back to the US for the Sasquatch Festival and will stay here until Bonnaroo, then they will head back to Europe and play a slew of festival dates. The band will be releasing a new album titled “I’m Going Away”, it will be released on July 21 via Thrill Jockey. Jason Loewenstein and Matthew Friedberger produced the album, Jason Loewenstein also mixed and played bass. The band is also working on other projects which include a “Silent Record”, a “Democ-Rock” album and album called “Stories from the Old Testament by the Fiery Furnaces.” The tracklisting for the new album is below, the album art for the new album is pictured above.
