I really didn’t want to make a list because that is what everybody does and I didn’t want to call it the top albums of the year because it is more of my opinion. So I made this which just features my favorite albums. If I hadn’t waited until the last day of the year to do it, I could’ve probably have done more than seven albums. Read the list below:

Brooklyn trio Earl Greyhound recorded four track for a Daytrotter Session. Three of the tracks that were played for the session were unreleased. They played my favorite ‘SOS’ from their album “Soft Targets” and three unreleased tracks. You can download all the tracks from the session here.
Better late than never, Arcade Fire were featured on BBC 2′s Culture Show in 2007 and played a couple of acoustic tracks for the show. One of the tracks was a cover of the Clash’s ‘Guns of Brixton’. You can hear Arcade Fire’s interpretation of the track below.
What a suprise this was on Christmas. This was unexpected as most leaks are; I expected to hear this next year on the proper date due to the Web Sheriff taking care of the leaks especially those by Grizzly Bear. Anyway with all that aside I think that this may be one of their best albums yet. Some of the new influences can be heard here on the new album. The haunting chants, the harmonies, the album does feature more of Animal Collective’ low end sound like Pitchfork said after attending the album’s listening party, a track where this is apparent is in ‘Also Frightened’ and ‘Taste’. So far on the first few listens the previously leaked track ‘Brothersport’ is still my favorite from the new album and does a great job of rounding out the album. Its just really catchy, just the opening lines with the ‘Open up your eyes’ line being so repetitive it just a track that you enjoy listening to over and over again. Until you can hear the album and wait for its proper release date you can listen to two of the songs, ‘Brothersport’ and ‘No More Runnnin” here at a concert recorded by NPR in 2007. You can download the live NPR version of ‘Brothersport’ below.
This is taken from a show which Bon Iver performed last week. It’s a cover of the Outfield’s hit single ‘Your Love’. Who would ever think that Justin Vernon would ever think to cover that song. He has transformed the song in order to suit his style. You can watch a video of the performance below and download the cover.
