Bad Woman

I recently found a rip of the new Arctic Monkeys b-sides ‘Bad Woman’. It is a cover of the original song done by Pat Farrell and the Belivers. The song also happens to be a collaboration with Richard Hawley who formerly played with the Longpips and Pulp. I have to say that the song is a little bland, but again it’s just a b-side so it doesn’t matter. Here’s the track, if you want to listen. Tell me what you think of it, comment. I talked about the ‘Teddy Picker’ single before here, here, and here.

According to the NME, the Klaxons have revelead new information about their second album. Guitarist Simon Taylor talks about how he wants the new album to be full of contradictions like it being lo-fi but heavily produced. He also went on to talk about what type of music they have been listening to lately like European prog rock, dubstep, dance and folk. Another thing he mentioned was one track that they have been playing in soundcheck that he described as “this massive prog opus”. It’s good to hear the Klaxons are working on new material but weren’t they looking for Dr. Dre to produce their second album or at least one track? Anyway here’s a few Klaxons tracks.

The Editors dropped their new single ‘Racing Rats’ yesterday, I talked about that here. The single was released with the b-side ‘Banging Heads’ and it is simply great. They have been playing it live and they released the studio version. Why keep talking about it, the link is at the bottom.
Here is video of the song being performed live:

The Good, the Bad and the Queen

The Good, the Bad and the QueenWell since the year is beginning to end with December around the corner I have decided to write about my favorite albums of the year. This week I’ll write about the album The Good, the Bad and the Queen by a band with no name that features Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) on vocals, Simon Tong (The Verve) on guitar, Paul Simonon (The Clash) on bass and Tony Allen (Fela Kuti) on drums. The Good, the Bad and the QueenThe album was recorded in Fall 0f 2006 and it came out by January 2007. It was produced by porducer Danger Mouse (The Grey Album, Gnarls Barkley, Demon Days, The Mouse and the Mask). The songs are all pretty evenly matched. Though I have to say that Danger Mouse might have went overboard with the production of the album. Certain parts of songs get lost in the over-production of it. But it is still a pretty good overall album. With songs like ‘Herculean’, ‘Green Fields’ and ‘The Good, the Bad and the Queen’, any Albarnaholic would be pleased with the album. Here are some acoustic versions of the songs notice how different they sound before Danger Mouse does anything to them. Enjoy.
